Life's Candle

Life's candle brightens the world
While I alone am in darkness
Where are you who have been my light all this while?
Without direction I dive into the stormy sea.
I am battered by waves on to the shore
Without beginning or end.

Where are you, my heart's light?
Your departure is sudden;
I am devastated, my soul shattered.
A thousand years cannot cure the pain that will not heal.

Memories remain, sweetness lingers,
Rekindling the flame that died yesterday.

I still ask where you are -
My heart's light all this time.
Perhaps the hillside wates me
And murmurs melodiously.
Perhaps the mountain gazes at me
And whispers gently into the depths of my heart.
Isn't this living?
Isn't life and death the way of lovers?

Without light in the soul
Life is empty.
I ask the clouds where she is...
I ask the sky where she is...
No answer comes;
Instead endless loneliness -
There is only the sigh of scarred love.

I am contecnt with the sigh
Of an ordinary being;
It is the way of life for all.
Spyke scribbled at 9:58 PM.
